Make sure you plan ahead. Check if the place you want to visit is open, and where possible, book in advance. Booking direct with your accommodation supports the local operator and will provide you with the opportunity to get real-time local advice as to where to go and what to do. Be mindful our businesses are working as hard as possible to meet the guidelines and provide a COVID safe environment and may have restricted numbers and reduced capability over this period.
Give yourself plenty of time to enjoy your trip. Allow extra time for travel and plan lots of breaks or stops. Make use of our walkways and walking and cycling tracks but be mindful of others that you come across them, keep the recommended 1.5m distance and if the walking path is narrow, be patient and allow them to pass safely.
Avoid touching surfaces like posts and railings wherever practical but safety first! Wash or hand sanitise your hands regularly.
If you see any closed signs, please respect these, even if it looks OK to you, as it is not safe for you and your family to use them just now – they are closed for good reason.
With restricted dining capacity across our cafes and restaurants and COVID restrictions encouraging being in the great outdoors, you may be buying more takeaway. Please remember the fragility of our environment and dispose of your rubbish thoughtfully. The kindest option is to take all rubbish home with you or to use the correct recycling bins – and even better, bring your own tupperware containers and keep cups for your coffee and meals! Most cafes will accept these if they are clean.
We love our coast, rivers and lakes but please remember to be safe and responsible and always ensure children are within arm’s reach. If heading for a swim at the beach – please seek out patrolled beaches and swim between the flags.
