The Gables lookout perches above some of the tallest coastal cliffs in Australia and is located on the Great Ocean Walk between the Ryans Den and Devil’s Kitchen campsites.
Although vehicle access is available from the Great Ocean Road, it is on a rough and narrow road. 2wd access is not recommended after rain and care should be taken at all times.
The trail from the car park snakes through a dense copse of Sheoak to the lookout. Dazzling panoramas east and west along the coast are offered when you emerge from the shelter of the forest.
The lookout is 800m return along a flat but relatively uneven path.
Turn off the Great Ocean Road 16km east of Princetown (signed Moonlight head); follow sign to the Gables along a rough 4.5km rough gravel road.
