To me contributing to a sustainable world is about the small things. Picking up rubbish when we see it. Always choosing the plastic free alternative when there is one. Trying to grow food. Planting more plants to improve native habitats. Going pre loved where possible.
What is the one thing visitors should know about the region before they arrive?
The more time you spend here, experiencing the lesser known trails and lookouts, the richer and more authentic your stay will be.
What does sustainability mean to you and how do you contribute to sustainable outcomes in our region and beyond?
To me contributing to a sustainable world is about the small things. Picking up rubbish when we see it. Always choosing the plastic free alternative when there is one. Trying to grow food. Planting more plants to improve native habitats. Going pre loved where possible and allowing my children to get salty and dirty, climb trees, pick fruit, collect eggs and mend things. My kids favourite shop is the opp shop and the Port Campbell swap shed! Gosh, I could go on!
In our region I have organised events from protesting against big oil down to creating a nature based park for our children and visitors.
Favourite local animal?
I find the homecoming of the short-tailed shearwaters to Mutton board island at Loch Ard Gorge truly mesmerising.
Favourite local plant?
There are these beautiful tiny pink wildflowers that come up during autumn.
