With the school holidays approaching we have explored some things to do; for the young or old, we will have an event, activity and idea to suit the entire family!
Free experiences to enjoy with your family — nothing better than getting out in the fresh air amongst nature. Put away the screens, pack your walking shoes, throw in your bike we are off on an a GREAT OCEAN ROAD adventure!
A highlight of any adventure and school holiday is visiting one of the best playgrounds the region has to offer. Lake Pertobe Adventure Playground in Warrnambool is one of the largest — with an array of slides, swings, whizzy and you name it has it. Did I forget to mention the flying fox? Pack a picnic and enjoy it on the manicured lawns. Perhaps a playground adventure in the morning and a visit to the Tower Hill Wildlife Reserve in the afternoon — only a short drive from Warrnambool and 10 minutes from Port Fairy. Tower Hill is known for its wildlife experiences — pack your hat and walking shoes, explore the many walking paths and viewing platforms. Or perhaps plan and book a guided tour or experience. If you prefer to hit the trails — explore the many waterfall walks at Lorne, offering a range of long and short options — ensuring those little legs will last the full distance. A little further on, jump on your bike and grab your helmet, it’s time to hit the rail trail. The Camperdown to Timboon rail trail is 40km in distance — remember, you do not need to do the full distance.
If you are up for an ocean wildlife experience, Seals by the Sea Tour in Cape Bridgewater ticks all of the boxes. A personal favourite and a tour that captures every-one — get up close and personal with the Australian Fur Seals in a 1 hour boat tour. We do recommend calling ahead and booking with Joe. Perhaps a more active river experience is your thing — hire a canoe and paddle your way along the Anglesea river bank. Take your time, enjoy the scenery and finish the day off with a picnic on the foreshore. Maybe water isn’t your thing, get active and test your skills at Live Wire Park in Lorne — home to Australia’s most extreme zip line. Offering a range of tree top walks, circuits and much more. If you love animals and wildlife — we recommend visiting the Great Ocean Road Wildlife Park. Located in Gellibrand you will have the opportunity to see a range of Australian Animals including Dingo, Emu, Kangaroo, wombats and wallabies.
Events Galore! A range of events and activities are on offer throughout the school holidays. We recommended viewing the fill list of events and activities planned for the school holidays here.
