Playing host to Australia's most recognised coast line and largest volcanic region in Victoria, the Twelve Apostles Coast and Hinterland is located west of Melbourne along the Princes Highway or Great Ocean Road. Port Campbell, centrally located on the Twelve Apostles coast, is a 2 hours and 45 minute drive from Melbourne travelling on the inland route.

By Car

From Melbourne

To reach Port Campbell by car via the Great Ocean Road will take approximately 4 hours and 45 minutes and is 296km from Melbourne. An alternative drive is via the inland route which will take approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes and is 230km from Melbourne.

From Mount Gambier

To reach Port Campbell by car via the coastal route will take approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes and is 280km from Mount Gambier. An alternative drive is via the inland route which will take approximately 3 hours and is 247km from Mount Gambier.

From the Grampians

To reach Port Campbell by car via the coastal route will take approximately 3 hours and is 235km from Halls Gap. An alternative drive is via the inland route which will take approximately 2 hours and 38 minutes and is 210km from Halls Gap.

From Ballarat

To reach Port Campbell by car will take approximately 2 hours and 10 minutes and is 164km from Ballarat.

 

By Train

Train services operated by V/Line are available from Melbourne to Warrnambool, stopping along the way in the Twelve Apostles hinterland towns of Camperdown and Terang. Buses connect at Camperdown and Warrnambool Railway Stations, taking passengers to neighbouring towns. See 'By Bus' for more information.

The Melbourne to Warrnambool train line departs from Southern Cross Station in Melbourne's CBD.

The Melbourne Airport is the nearest Airport to Port Campbell that has both local and International flights.
