The Otway Fly is a 600 metre long 25 metre high elevated tree top walk ascending at a gentle grade through a magnificent stand of cool temperate rainforest featuring Myrtle Beech, Blackwood and Mountain Ash.
For the thrill seeker a 45 metre high lookout is ascended via a spiral stairway through the understorey to emerge amongst the crowns of the giants of the forest.
The Springboard cantilever bounces gently high over picturesque Young`s Creek.
Experience the sensation of being 25 metres above the forest floor. The walk commences at the visitor centre, which subtly introduces you to the rainforest, descending gently to the entry structure and onto the steel trussed tree walk.
As you proceed along the level walkway, the ground progressively drops away taking you on a journey through the upper reaches of the rainforest vegetation strata. You emerge through the ferns of the forest floor to the tranquillity and beauty of the forest canopy.
At 25 metres high you experience a unique, close view of the flora and fauna of the rainforest. Before you know it you are staring out above the tops of some trees and there are also some spectacular stands of ferns to look down on.

The Otway Fly provides visitors of all ages and levels of mobility a unique and challenging experience at all times of the year.
Return to the visitor centre via the meandering gently graded forest walk over the timber trestle bridge and pavilion. Catch a rare glimpse of Brook Trout or platypus in Young`s Creek. The walkway itself is some 600 metres long, while the walk is a 1.9 kilometres round trip and takes approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour to complete.
The canopy walkway is designed to have minimal impact on the forest environment. The 600 metre long steel section is divided into lightweight trusses ranging from 24 metres to 40 metres which will in turn be supported by 12 towers.
Otway Fly tree top walk is the longest and highest walk of its kind in the world. It is able to withstand 280km/h winds.
The average height is over 25 metres with the highest point being the viewing platform of the spiral tower at an exhilarating height of 45 metres.The maximum weight per square metre along the walk is 400 kilograms and the maximum weight on the cantilever is 28 tonnes.
- Accessible toilets at walk entrance.
- Accessible car parking near the main building (there are signs in the main car park).
- Distance from the main car park to the entrance is 300m. From the building to the actual structure it is a 700m walk (part of the round trip).
- A transport service (buggy) is available for visitors to the start of the structure and it runs every half hour on the half hour and is available on request for visitors with mobility issues.
